Bills: File 13 or Write A Check?

S. 136: Introduced by Senator Todd Young (R) A bill to provide a consumer protection framework necessary to support the growth of accessible, affordable, and accountable financing options for postsecondary education, and for other purposes.

“Under an ISA, a student agrees to pay a percentage of their income over a given time period in exchange for tuition payments from nongovernmental sources. When the agreed timeframe ends, the student stops payments regardless of whether the initial amount was paid back to the ISA funder. ” Todd Young

” U.S. Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.), Mark Warner D-Va.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and Chris Coons (D-Del.) reintroduced their bipartisan bill, the ISA Student Protection Act, to support an innovative financing tool for students pursuing postsecondary education called Income Share Agreements (ISAs). The bill would also apply strong consumer protections to safeguard students.” Written by Todd Young

Bills: File 13 or Write A Check?

HB 1004: Health care matters. “Allows a credit against an employer’s state tax liability if the employer has adopted a health reimbursement arrangement. Requires certain employers that claim and are allowed the credit to report certain information to the department of insurance. Provides a credit against state tax liability to certain physicians who have an ownership interest in a physician practice and meet other eligibility criteria. Establishes the health care cost oversight board and sets forth duties of the board. https://iga.in.gov/legislative/2023/bills/house/1004#digest-heading

“As you know, Hoosiers already face some of the highest healthcare costs of any state. The last thing we need are proposals, like those in HB1004, which will impose new taxes on healthcare that will negatively impact consumers and employers across our state – while doing nothing to address high hospital costs.
If we fail to hold hospitals accountable for their primary role in our state’s healthcare affordability crisis, we’ll have achieved nothing.
Not only will HB1004’s new taxes result in higher healthcare costs, but the bill also creates a dangerous precedent that could spread across industries.
Healthcare inflation reached an all-time high last year. Hoosiers like me, don’t need new taxes, like those included in HB1004, making healthcare even more expensive.”

Written by Healthcare Network an Elevance Company. It is the largest for-profit managed health care company in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

HB1004 is designed to bring down costs to the national average, which is 260% of the federal Medicare reimbursement rate. If a nonprofit hospital charges amounts for health care services that exceeded 260% of the federal Medicare reimbursement rate, under HB 1004, the state will assess a penalty against the hospital. Revenue collected from the penalty would be used to pay the state’s share of the cost of Medicaid services. The bill also bans noncompete clauses for physicians while also helping physicians start independent practices.”

The difference between people who know they must protect their land to survive and those who don’t can easily be visualized by Venzuela’s socialist population and the colonist of the United States. One believes that they will be taken care of by someone in another land and the other believes they must correct wrongdoing and protect what is theirs.

“Venezuela is engulfed in a political and economic crisis which has led to more than seven million people leaving the country since 2015.”

American Revolutionary War, (1775-83), insurrection by which 13 of Great Britain ‘s North American colonies won political independence and went on to form the United States of America.”

Billions handed out to foreign EV companies while Americans Suffer. This time a German company planting its feet in South Carolina.

Scout Motors is a subsidiary of the German multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany who had a net income of $15.4 Billion in 2021. The brand Scout will be produced in South Carolina at the cost of all citizens but especially those living in the State and County giving Scout a $1.3 Billion package plus added benefits.

In order to attract a foreign owned $2 billion electric vehicle plant to Blythewood, South Carolina agreed spend $1.3 billion. The Scout Motors also will be given $400 million for site construction as a part of the $1.3 billion package. The deal even includes $16 Million in property acquisition (eminent domain) to connect to the railroad.

The state incentives come on top of:

  1. property tax break and other incentives offered by Richland County. (The company’s property would be assessed at a tax rate of 4%. Per the state Department of Revenue, manufacturing property in South Carolina is typically assessed at rates up to 10.5%. )
  2. The county incentives also include stipends for employees’ child care,
  3. The company also will be able get a further 50% tax break through making investments in infrastructure, a setup known as an infrastructure tax credit.
  4. Receive job development credits, which are awarded for the amount of investment the company will carry out and number of jobs it creates.

During the Obama administration, federal subsidies were being launched to promote electric vehicle expansion. Today, grant and loan programs are in place to promote manufacturing from state and federal programs to expand the availability of charging stations. Individuals can also get a $7,500 tax credit for purchasing a new electric vehicle or a $4,000 credit for a used one with more than $12, 000 credit for EVs made with Union workers.

Federal subsidies for electric vehicles increased to more than $750 Million in 2014. The Obama administration alone pledged $2.4 billion dollars in grants to support the manufacturing and development of electric cars and batteries. In 2021, government approved about US$2 billion in incentives. Michigan passed a US$1.5 billion bill in December 2021 that expanded state incentives, including for EV production.

Since 2002 the EV pioneer Tesla has received the most subsidies at US$2.5 billion. As of Feb 2022:

  1. Ford was next highest at US$1.5 billion, followed by
  2. GM at $1.1 billion.
  3. Fourth on the list is the start-up electric truck company Rivian, which is now set to received more than US$400 million from Georgia to build a new plant in the southern state…. As of Feb 2022.

As the top business owners such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Ken Griffin warn of a coming recession in 2023 and layoffs become noticable by Tesla, General Motors, Walmart, and Goldman Sachs, our government Spends our money on the luxury ride of the rich.

Our politicians are too superficial to attack a real problem. Their party egos prevents our elected, people we hire, from doing the real work we pay them to do. A perfect example is crime and gun legislation.

Gun legislation has never solved a problem nor has it ever curbed crime but some of our legislators continue to chant that more government control over a Constitutional right is needed to curb crime.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country

Violent crime is on the rise in the past few years but its not usually committed at the end of a barrell. Homicides by gun in 2022 totaled a little under 20,000.

On October 5, 2022, the FBI released detailed data on more than 11 million criminal offenses reported to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program’s National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) in 2021.  According to the FBI, the aggregate estimated violent crime volume decreased 1% for the nation from 1,326,600 in 2020 to 1,313,200 in 2021.

Comparing the number of Violent Crimes with the number of homicides gives the indication that guns are not the issue. Our problems rest in the situations that influence an individual to jump the fence from law abiding citizen to law breaker.

France is a perfect example of Socialism at the brink of failure. That failure began when citizens begged for taxation, free programs like healthcare, free food, and subsidized housing. You know, those things you are entitled to because, well, simply, because you are alive. Nature does not work like that!

Social taxes account for 37% of French revenue; the OECD average is 26%. Payroll and property taxes contribute 3% and 9%, compared to the OECD averages of 1% and 6%. As a reminder, the payroll tax is very regressive; it consumes a larger share of low and middle class earners than rich people.”

We were so happy to see Breibart announce the Firing, or unfunding of, the army of IRS agents hired by the Biden Administration. Bigger government is not the answer. More efficient government used correctly is our goal.

The United States Government is the largest employer in the world. The United States Federal Government has approximately 2,711,000 civilian employees.

Screaming “Tax the Rich” seems almost ignorant when we allow our Reprsentatives to give our tax dollars to huge corporations that bring in billions. Stop giving our money to established companies and start encouraging small business entrepreneurship!

As a glaring example of Economic Development fiascos, Georgia gave away more than $1 Billion to an Illinois Electric Vehicle company that is highly dependent on policy. The Center for Economic Accountability (CEA) has branded this as “The Worst Economic Development Deal of the Year”.

Reason magazine has the rest of the story. (1)

The Chinese owned Smithfield Foods who currently bought their way out of charges on a pork price fixing scam which increased the America’s family food budget may have more than pork prices in mind.

The American company Smithfield was bought by the Chinese group WH Group in 2013. Several laws needed to be changed in order for the largest sale of American assets ever to Chinese Nationals to be approved.

WH Group was previously named Shuanghui Development with Mr. WAN Long as Executive Director, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “Mr. Wan joined Luohe Meat Products Processing United Factory (AKA Shuanghui Development ) in 1968 and became the General Manager of the factory in 1984. Under his direction, the business has grown from a local state-owned enterprise in Henan province into an international company with operations spanning various continents.” (1) Louhe Meats was a CHINESE STATE OWNED company and has created several shell companies and name changes including WH Group, Smithfield Foods.

Mr. WAN Long is father to WAN Hongjian
Executive Director, Deputy Chairman and Vice President of WH Group. He also started as a cooked food workshop worker at Henan Luohe. He is a graduate of Henan University. When China allows its citizens to attend college, the required loyalty factor to the Communist/Socialist Chinese political party is much higher than in USA.

WH Group, Smithfield Foods, grows and processes the food that feeds their country, China, in the United States leaving behind food shortages, higher prices, and extreme pollution on USA soil.

While China hoards foods grown in our country, not just pork but corn, they become a powerful lobbying organization both in Federal and State Government as we begin to realize that China’s exports are a needed income source which puts pressure on Governors and such to influence more powerful positions to pass laws that benefit the Chinese.

Newsweek conducted an in depth research article which explains who, what, where, when and why China involves itself in American businesses including nonprofits. (2) The “magic weapon” called the “United Front” is explained in more detail in the Newsweek article. China is well known for espionage and downright lying. The most infamous would probably be Huawei on fraud, espionage charges involving China and Iran.

There are many lists of Chinese owned businesses located in the United States. Prepareforchange.Net (3) gives an abbreviated list for those interested.

People who insist on commiting a crime will use any method at their disposal, be it gun or baseball bat. A very small portion of the population of the United States wants to prevent crime with firearms.

Banning products does not have the effects wished upon by those chanting for bans. Those who never abided by the laws will get those items illegally as they have always done or they will use other weapons at their disposal. Furthermore, those same banned weapons are available to the rich, those who can afford the licensing and tax.

There is no precedent in the United States that shows a reduction of homicide upon any ban.

Banning firearms will only change the Constitution of the United States to read, in essence, that the population believes in the rights and restraints listed in this document but we have no way of enforcing what we say.
